9. Starting Out: Hosting, Registering, Forwarding, Uploading

    1. Cost vs. convenience: finding the greatest bang for your bucks
    2. Choose your domain name (toasters5247)
    3. Domain registration (toasters5247.org): $8-$25 a year. Make sure you'll own the name and not the registrar.
    4. Forwarding (toasters.org -> geocities.com/toasters): $15 a year is average, free if you register with them.
    5. URL forwarding (toasters.cjb.com or vze.com or has.it): $0 a year, often with ads
    6. Subdomain registration/hosting: (toasters5247.webhost.com): $0-$30 a year - not common
    7. Setup fees - pay more now, pay less later?

    1. Host's web-based file manager - usually laborious, file by file
    2. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) - a program that transfers files
